Immediately I’m pleased to share with you the trickiest and trappiest opening variation for White in opposition to the Caro-Kann Protection. It’s the Fantasy Variation, which occurs after 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.f3.

The preliminary objective of the transfer 3.f3 is easy; White desires to keep up the central pawns on e4 and d4. Until Black tries to problem the middle, White can comfortably keep a robust middle, develop items simply, and have a pleasant place. And Black tries to do that with dxe4, which is the mainline.

This difficult variation is adopted by an aggressive gambit, referred to as the Maroczy Gambit (within the Maroczy Variation), the place essentially the most natural-looking strikes and essentially the most performed strikes by Black are dropping.
